Recipes mit Salicornia Jod Pulver (Salicornia Iodine Powder)
Satisfying Bean Soup
- 1 kg speckled beans ("barbunya", available at Turkish shops) - approx. 200 ml olive oil - 1 pound onions - 1 jar tomato puree (= 5 ripe tomatoes) - 1 bunch of parsley - 1 dessert spoonful Salicornia Jod Pulver - 2 dessert spoonfuls oregano - 1 dessert spoonfuls paprika powder - sea salt
Wash the beans and allow to swell for at least 12 hours in cold water. Then put the beans into a stainless steel saucepan with approx. 3 l of fresh (new) cold water, bring to the boil and then allow to simmer on a low heat for 1 – 2 hours until they are soft. Afterwards finely chop onions and parsley and add to the beans together with the olive oil, tomato purée, Salicornia Jod Pulver and other spices. Then allow the complete mixture to simmer for another 1/2–1 hour, tasting in-between times and adding further spices if required.
